Confirmation of the Minutes


Confirmation of the Minutes of the Environment Committee Meeting held on Tuesday 11 March 2008


RESOLUTION: (Woodsmith/Belleli): that the Minutes of the Environment Committee Meeting held on Tuesday 11 March 2008 (copies of which were circulated to all Councillors) be and are hereby confirmed as a correct record of the proceedings of that meeting.

At the conclusion of the Environment Committee Meeting, the Mayor (Councillor Bruce Notley-Smith) signed the Earth Charter on behalf of Council in accordance with Minute No. 220/07 (and Mayoral Minute 79/2007) of 28 August 2007. Mr Alan Atkisson witnessed the signing on behalf of Earth Charter International.

Greening Randwick Reports


G1/08        Greening Randwick Report - Report of the Greening Randwick Committee meeting held on Tuesday 11 March 2008 (F2007/00647)


RESOLUTION: (Tracey/Woodsmith) that the recommendations contained in the Report of the Greening Randwick Committee meeting of 11 March 2008 be adopted as a resolution of the Environment Committee.





G1/08        Greening Randwick Report - Tree Canopy Cover Maps - Randwick LGA (F2004/07359)


RESOLUTION: (Tracey/Woodsmith) that Council consider repeating the canopy cover mapping every five years.




Environment Reports


E8/08        Environment Report - Greywater Treatment and Water Re-use Systems (F2007/00408)


RESOLUTION: (Mayor, Cr B Notley-Smith/Hughes) that:


(a)    the attached Health, Building & Regulatory Services standard procedure for on-        site sewage management systems, grey-water treatment systems and other         waste water re-use systems be noted.


(b)    Council continue to investigate options for the continuing promotion of grey         water initiatives throughout the City.

E9/08        Environment Report - Water Savings Project at Administration Building (F2004/06495)


RESOLUTION: (Mayor, Cr B Notley-Smith/Woodsmith) that:


(a)    Council approves the installation of the rainwater storage and re-use systems as         described for the air-conditioning plant in the Administration Building at Frances         Street; and


(b)    the General Manager bring a report back to the Environment Committee on the         feasibility of providing filtered water to Council staff.


MOTION: (Mayor, Cr B Notley-Smith/Woodsmith) CARRIED - SEE RESOLUTION.



E10/08      Environment Report - Workplace Travel Access Plan (F2004/08350)


RESOLUTION: (Tracey/Hughes) that Council agrees to the preparation of a Workplace Travel Access Plan.
