CONFIRMATION OF THE MINUTES OF THE WORKS COMMITTEE MEETING HELD ON TUESDAY, 13TH JULY, 2004.

 

W44    RESOLUTION:  (Belleli/Hughes) that the Minutes of the Meeting of the Works Committee held on Tuesday, 13th July, 2004 (copies of which were circulated to all Councillors) be and are hereby confirmed as a correct record of the proceedings of that meeting.

4.         REPORT OF THE GREENING RANDWICK COMMITTEE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RANDWICK HELD ON TUESDAY, 13TH JULY, 2004. (F2004/07359 xr 98/S/4689)

 

W45       RESOLUTION: (His Worship the Mayor, Cr M. Matson/Belleli) that:

 

(a)               consideration of Council’s policy on the removal of aggressive rooted street trees be deferred to the next meeting to allow the revising of Council’s policy to incorporate a definite measure of canopy alteration to a street which can be used as a criteria to either continue or halt the removal of street trees; and

 

(b)               Council actively seek community consultation in streets of significant planting.

5.         MAYORAL MINUTES.

 

5.1       MAYORAL MINUTE 57/2004 - RESIDENT INVOLVEMENT ON THE GREENING RANDWICK COMMITTEE.  (F2004/07359 xr 98/S/4689)

 

W46       RESOLUTION: (His Worship the Mayor, Cr M. Matson) that:

 

a)                  Councillor Procopiadis’ resignation from the Greening Randwick Committee  be noted and accepted and that Councillor Andrews be accepted as his replacement from the Labor Party;

 

b)                  The Greening Randwick Committee will draw up a list of streets with significant plantings of Ficus Hilli for which it is appropriate to form resident's committees of six people plus the three ward councillors to discuss problems and solutions for their streets. Where necessary Council experts will talk directly to such committees, detailing problems and possible solutions and timetables;

 

c)                  These committees will make recommendations for consideration by the Greening Randwick Committee;

 

d)                  The membership of these committees be formed by nomination to the Greening Randwick Committee; and

 

e)                  Councillors will be asked to communicate with residents of affected streets to explain the process of the committee on the street tree issue, and to forward nominations for members of resident committees to the Greening Randwick Committee.

6.1         DIRECTOR ASSET & INFRASTRUCTURE SERVICES' REPORT 50/2004 - COUNCIL OWNED FICUS 'HILLII' OUTSIDE 9 LORNE AVENUE, KENSINGTON.  (R/0478/03)

 

W47    RESOLUTION:  (Sullivan/His Worship the Mayor, Cr M. Matson) that the Council-owned Ficus ‘Hillii’ (Hill’s Weeping fig) growing on the nature strip outside 9 Lorne Avenue, Kensington, be removed and replaced with a more suitable tree species, as nominated in Council’s Street Tree Masterplan.

6.2       DIRECTOR ASSET & INFRASTRUCTURE SERVICES' REPORT 51/2004 - COUNCIL OWNED FICUS 'HILLII' OUTSIDE 1 BYNG STREET, MAROUBRA.  (R/0138/03)

 

W48    RESOLUTION:  (His Worship the Mayor, Cr M. Matson/Hughes) that this matter be deferred to the next Ordinary Council meeting with a report to be brought before Council on options for the removal or retaining of this tree.

6.3         DIRECTOR ASSET & INFRASTRUCTURE SERVICES' REPORT 52/2004 - CINNAMONUM CAMPHORAS AT REAR OF SILVER STREET CARPARK, RANDWICK. (PL/2004/00081 xr R/0678/03)

 

W49    RESOLUTION:  (Sullivan/Belleli) that the two subject Cinnamomum camphora trees be removed and replaced with an appropriate number of smaller more suitable native tree species.

6.4       DIRECTOR ASSET & INFRASTRUCTURE SERVICES' REPORT 53/2004 - KENSINGTON ROAD AND BORONIA STREET, KENSINGTON - REQUEST FOR ANGLE PARKING.  (R/0439/02)

 

W50    RESOLUTION:  (Sullivan/Belleli) that:    

 

(a)        Council concur with the recommendation of the Traffic Committee that the proposal for angle parking in Kensington Road and Boronia Street be not supported; and

 

(b)       the action completed by Council’s officers to trim tree branches to ensure clear visibility for approaching vehicles of existing traffic signs at the intersection of Boronia Street and Duke Street be noted.

6.5       DIRECTOR ASSET & INFRASTRUCTURE SERVICES' REPORT 54/2004 - COUNCIL OWNED FICUS 'HILLII' OUTSIDE 3 QUAIL STREET, COOGEE.  (R/0629/03)

 

W51    RESOLUTION:  (Tracey/His Worship the Mayor, Cr M. Matson) that this matter be deferred to the next Ordinary Council meeting to determine which of the two Ficus ‘Hillii’ trees outside 3 Quail Street, Coogee is being proposed for removal.

6.6       DIRECTOR ASSET & INFRASTRUCTURE SERVICES' REPORT 55/2004 - RESIDENTS PERMIT PARKING – CLOVELLY.  (98/S/2714)

 

W52    RESOLUTION:  (Tracey/Sullivan) that:

 

(a)       the recommendations of the Clovelly On-Street Parking Report be adopted in principle;

 

(b)        the proposal be referred to the Randwick Traffic Committee for concurrence; and

 

(c)        the proposal be placed on public display.

6.7       DIRECTOR ASSET & INFRASTRUCTURE SERVICES' REPORT 56/2004 - 89-91 ST MARKS ROAD, RANDWICK - TWO COUNCIL OWNED FICUS 'HILLII' . (R/0705/03)

 

W53    RESOLUTION:  (His Worship the Mayor, Cr M. Matson/Hughes) that only the Council owned Ficus ‘Hillii’ growing on the nature strip outside 89 St Marks Road, Randwick be removed to enable the Council to have a closer look at the second tree outside number 91 St Marks Road, Randwick.
