CONFIRMATION OF THE MINUTES OF THE WORKS COMMITTEE MEETING HELD ON TUESDAY, 12TH MARCH, 2002.

 

W19    RESOLUTION:  (Schick/His Worship the Mayor, Cr D. Sullivan) that the Minutes of the Meeting of the Works Committee held on Tuesday, 12th March, 2002 (copies of which were circulated to all Councillors) be and are hereby confirmed as a correct record of the proceedings of that meeting.

W20    RESOLUTION:  (Schick/His Worship the Mayor, Cr D. Sullivan) that:

 

a)                  The petition from residents of Moverly Road, Kingsford be noted; and

 

b)                  The petitioners be notified of Council’s decision in relation to this matter.

5.2       DIRECTOR ASSET & INFRASTRUCTURE SERVICES' REPORT 29/2002 - GARDENERS LANE, KINGSFORD - CONSTRUCTION OF KERB AND GUTTER.  (R/0321/01)

 

W21    RESOLUTION:  (Schick/His Worship the Mayor, Cr D. Sullivan) that:

 

a)                  The petition from residents of Gardeners Road and Houston Road, Kingsford be noted;

 

b)                  An allocation $15,000 for the construction of kerb and gutter in Gardeners Lane between Bruce Lane and Houston Road, Kingsford, be included in the Draft 2003/2004 Budget for Council’s consideration; and

 

c)                  The petitioners be notified of Council’s decision in relation to this matter.

5.3       DIRECTOR ASSET & INFRASTRUCTURE SERVICES' REPORT 30/2002 - EASTMORE PLACE, MAROUBRA - ROAD CONDITION.  (R/0812/01)

 

W22    RESOLUTION:  (Schick/His Worship the Mayor, Cr D. Sullivan) that:

 

a)                  The petition from residents of Eastmore Place, Maroubra be noted; and

 

b)                  The petitioners be informed of the contents of the Director Asset and Infrastructure’s Report No. 30/2002.

5.4       DIRECTOR ASSET & INFRASTRUCTURE SERVICES' REPORT 31/2002 - 54 AUSTRAL STREET, MALABAR - PROPOSED TREE REMOVAL.  (R/0046/03)

 

W23    RESOLUTION:  (Schick/White) that:

 

a)                  There are no legitimate problems of sufficient urgency to warrant the removal of the three Erythrina x sykesii growing on the nature strip outside 54 Austral Street, Malabar and that they should be retained at the present time;

 

b)                  They are in good health and form part of a significant avenue planting of this particular tree species and as such they should be progressively removed over a relatively long timeframe to minimise their amenity loss to the surrounding community; and

 

c)                  The owners be advised accordingly.

 

PROCEDURAL MOTION:  (Greenwood/Nil) that this matter be deferred until ownership of the land is established.  LAPSED FOR WANT OF A SECONDER.

 

FURTHER MOTION:  (Schick/White)  SEE RESOLUTION.

 

AMENDMENT:  (Whitehead/Greenwood) that:

 

a)                  There are no legitimate problems of sufficient urgency to warrant the removal of the three Erythrina x sykesii growing on the nature strip outside 54 Austral Street, Malabar and that they should be retained at the present time;

 

b)                  They are in good health and form part of a significant avenue planting of this particular tree species and as such they should be progressively removed over a relatively long timeframe to minimise their amenity loss to the surrounding community;

 

c)                  The owners be advised accordingly; and

 

d)                  The question of the ownership of the land outside 20 Austral Street, Malabar and Council’s control over the trees located there be investigated and reported back to Council.  LOST.

 

5.5       DIRECTOR ASSET & INFRASTRUCTURE SERVICES' REPORT 32/2002 - FERGUSON STREET, GLANFIELD STREET, GALVIN STREET, MAROUBRA JUNCTION.  (R/0285/01)

 

W24    RESOLUTION:  (White/His Worship the Mayor, Cr D. Sullivan) that:

 

a)         The sections of roadway listed below be kerbed and guttered in the following order as indicated in the Draft 2002/03 to 2004/05 Management Plan; and

 

2002/2003       Glanfield Street, Bunnerong Road to Royal Street

2003/2004       Galvin Street, Mulgray Avenue to Cooper Street

2004/2005       Ferguson Street, Wade Street to Fitzgerald Avenue

 

b)         The petitioners in Ferguson Street be advised that the section of Ferguson Street between Wade Street and Fitzgerald Avenue has been listed in the Draft 2002/03 to 2004/2005 Management Plan for construction in 2004/2005.

5.6       DIRECTOR ASSET & INFRASTRUCTURE SERVICES' REPORT 33/2002 - ANZAC PARADE/MAROUBRA ROAD, MAROUBRA - TRAFFIC CONDITIONS  (R/0031/02 xr R/0503/02)

 

W25    RESOLUTION:  (His Worship the Mayor, Cr D. Sullivan/Schick) that:

 

a)                  The Director Asset & Infrastructure Services’ Report 33/2002 be received and noted; and

 

b)                  The RTA be requested to review the signals and the configuration at the intersection of Anzac Parade and Maroubra Road to see whether or not it can be reconfigured to allow for other contra flows, specifically cross flows and especially in the Maroubra crossover, to improve vehicle movements at that intersection.

W26    RESOLUTION:  (Schick/His Worship the Mayor, Cr D. Sullivan) that “No Entry Out-of-Service STA Buses” signposting be installed in Snape Street at Bunnerong Road and Anzac Parade.
